August 11 — Deadline for Drop Off - All work must be at the BAC no later than 5 PM on Sunday, August 11th. Work may be dropped off anytime (during our open gallery hours) between July 25th and August 11th.
**Permitting that work submitted is appropriate for gallery display, all pieces will be included in the show
August 15 — Opening Reception & Awards are on Thursday, August 15th, from 5:30-7:30 PM for the artists and public. Awards will be announced at 6pm.
September 21 — Exhibition Closes
September 22 - 25 — Artwork must be picked up or arrangements must be made for work to be picked up at the BAC by September 25th at the latest. The BAC is not responsible for your work past this date.
Conditions & Eligibility:
All artists and craftspeople over 18 residing in South Dakota are eligible to enter. Payment as well as a signed and completed entry form must be submitted to the BAC before August 11th. All work must be original, completed and not previously exhibited at the BAC. Current and former BAC Board Members and staff are eligible to enter. Works in progress, wet works, or works that are not framed and wired will not be accepted.
All media will be included with the exception of photography (as there is an annual photography specific show in January). Entrants are responsible for transportation of work to and from the BAC. Return shipping must be included, if shipping is required.
Entry Fee:
$20 per pieces with a limit of three (3) works per artist. Card, cash, or check made payable to Brookings Arts Council will be accepted. Online payment is also available here.
Entry Instruction
Entry may be completed in person or online before the deadline of August 11, 2023. To register online please complete the linked Google Form in its entirety. You may either print and complete the attached labeling and release forms yourself, or complete one in person upon the delivery of work to the BAC. Registration will not be considered completed and work will not be accepted until the entry fee is paid. Please take care to attach artwork identification tags to the back of each piece.

Awards
Awards will be announced at 6pm, artists are not required to be present to win. Decisions of the judge or jurors is final, honorable mentions may be given at the juror’s discretion.
Presentation & Framing:
Two-dimensional work must be ready to hang by wire, so as to be able to be hung on our gallery rail hanging system.
***NOTE****
No sawtooth hangers, nail holes, metal clip hangers, or loose pieces of paper, please as they are not able to be hung on our gallery rail system. We also cannot screw hangers into the walls due to the historic nature of our building.
Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 75 pounds, and wet works will not be accepted. Artwork tags must be attached to the back of the work on the bottom right corner.
Transportation of Work:
Artists are responsible for the delivery and pick-up of their art. Delivery or mail ready-to-hang works to the address listed below. If mailed, artist is responsible for return shipping and handling costs.

Sale of Work:
The Brookings Arts Council receives a 25% commission on any pieces sold while on exhibit. Entry in the exhibition signifies agreement with all conditions of the exhibition. Artwork will remain at the BAC, marked as “SOLD” until the end of the exhibition, and which time the artist of the sold work will be given a check and the purchased piece will be released to it’s buyer.
Notes:
The Brookings Arts Council will take every precaution to ensure the safety of submitted artwork. However, the BAC will not be responsible for any loss or damage to your artwork, no matter how the loss or damage is incurred. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work.
Should the number of pieces submitted exceed the available gallery space, we reserve the right to limit the number displayed as gallery space allows. Artists may submit a maximum of three (3) pieces. A minimum of one (1) piece will be displayed. Any works left at the at the gallery after the pick up deadline is not the responsibility of the BAC.
The BAC reserves the right to preclude works from the show. Due to the public gallery location art depicting nudity may not portray genitalia; any nudity must depict only consensual adults. Works containing overt obscenity, violence, or culturally insensitive elements will not be accepted. The decision of the Brookings Arts Council is final on this matter.

The Brookings Arts Council reserves the right to photograph all exhibited works and to use these photographs for promotional, educational, and/or publicity purposes.
Entry in the exhibition signifies agreement with all conditions of the exhibition.
